STILL LIFE - The Mysterious group from Vertigo Label

Still Life - what else could be said about them? As it turns out, there are still some unknown facts about the group. Just notice how often life
takes us by surprise. It happens almost every day, and that s why our existence is so wonderful. And something unexpected occurred to me
as well- in the end of 2008, Alan Savage wrote contacted me by e-mail. It turned out, that he is still active on the musical field, playing in
various groups. It's a current photo of him :

But the most astonishing fact was that, in the recording session of Still Life.

Alan Savage: "I recently acquired the Still Life CD (which I hadn't heard since it
was recorded) and realised there was another player on the record that did not
get a mention. He played the flute, and his name is Dick Patrick. He still plays
today, but mainly saxophone. I did a gig with him in the summer (he was
standing in for the regular guy) in a band called The Beer Parlor Jivers. Some of
this performance was recorded by the father of Julie Clements, the violin player
and he put it on you tube here is the link. 25th August 2008   youtube.com. "

As I mentioned, Alan didn t quit music and plays with various, Northampton
based jazz, rock, soul, blues groups. He also collaborates with :

Kerry  Hodgkin Jazz Band,  Mike Kemp's  Red Alert, Chris  Parker's  Jazz
Quartet, Footprints

The end of 2008 and beginning of 2009, was even more exciting. Finally, after many years, I reached Terry Howells. None of the band
have been in touch with him-they only knew that Howells moved to Switzerland. HE proved to be very generous-sent of rare photos and
shared many unknown facts with me. But let him speak in his own words:

" I think Martin is right that we spilt in 1971 so we never played with the Edgar
Broughton Band. After still life i made a break before going to France for a year
touring with an English group as keyboard player. When I came back to England
I joined a seven piece band who were resident band at Baileys night club in
Leicester.We were the backing band for famous artists who were tourning Britain.
The bass player of the band was Trevor Horn-you may know him as a producer
of Frankie goes to Hollywood, ABC etc.... I did this for 18 months and then did a
few months playing in a jazz trio. After this I moved to Switzerland.I stopped
playing professionally in 1982. After this I made this electronic type CD

                                      ARTREE - Celestail Influence

which I sent you and then I was approached by a band called Breeze and I
recorded an album with them, writing the material for the album and  singing lead
vocals and playing keyboards. This is  rock / pop  music. I have since gone back
to playing acoustic grand piano and give small concerts in Switzerland. I hope to
release a CD early next year. This will be solo piano"

Terry Howells also gave me the Artree album. An outstanding record full of astonishing sounds. I d wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone
He also shared some rare photos of Rainbows (to be viewed on the sub-page of the group). The photo beneath should though be titled
                                                                                       PRE - STILL LIFE .
                      Rainbows in these days played tracks that were issued later, when the group had the new name-Still Life.
